Regarding selling players for significant transfer amounts, Manchester City is not unusual. For example, City has profite from well-known names as Raheem Sterling, Cole Palmer, Riyad Mahrez, and

Gabriel Jesus in recent years. The past summer transfer window was the same; many City players ended up bidding farewell to the Etihad Stadium to join other teams around. Though only a few months have passed since last window, Pep Guardiola’s team is focused on returning one of their most recent departures to the club.

Man City would like to re-sign. Liam Delaps A recent Caught Offside analysis indicates that City is interested in signing Liam Delap even though the striker was sold to Ipswich Town during the previous summer transfer season. The source also notes that Ipswich could ask £40m to sell even in January; Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Newcastle United, and Aston Villa also show an interest in the former City youth. Darren Bent asserted Delap “has points to prove.” Following his six professional games for City and his way through the junior academy, Delap joined Ipswich in a contract worth £20m (via BBC Sport). Fabrizio Romano revealed City had a 20% sell-on clause for Delap before the trade was formally confirmed, but he omitted mentioning a buy-back clause. Since then, the twenty-one-year-old has scored four goals in eight Tractors league games. The Englishman’s brief stay with Kieran McKenna’s side is noteworthy since earlier this month Darren Bent rendered this assessment on Delap’s transfer from City to Ipswich and his current performance at his new team.
