Lions are being encouraged to reinstate a former professional football player who was paid $51 million if he is released. The Detroit Lions have recently been plagued by the possibility of the return of familiar personalities.

 

 

Darius Slay, a former Lions cornerback, was the first to suggest that the Lions are one of the two teams for which he would like to play next season. Presently, there is an additional former Lion who appears to be considering a return. NFL.com’s Matt Okada identified former Lions guard Jonah Jackson as a potential cut candidate for the Los Angeles Rams earlier this week.

 

 

 

Mike Payton of AtoZ Sports has advised the Lions to pursue their former guard if he becomes available, given the uncertainty surrounding Jackson’s future with the Rams. Jackson was selected by the Lions in the third round of the 2020 draft and promptly established himself as a critical member of their offensive line.

Due to an injury, Jackson was only able to participate in four regular season contests. In those four games, he permitted nine pressures.

 

 

 

Jackson’s departure from the Rams could potentially coincide with his return to the Lions. Kevin Zeitler was recruited by the Lions to a one-year contract as his replacement upon his departure. Zeitler had a successful season in Detroit; however, he is currently in the process of exercising his free agency rights and may encounter a robust market.
