Ben Chilwell has played against Manchester City more than once.

It is known that the left back has played 12 games against City in all divisions while at Leicester City and Chelsea.

Eight of those 12 games have ended in defeat for the Englishman. He has tied once and won three times.

Now, though, the full-back has named a well-known City fan as the best player he’s ever played against.

Riyad Mahrez is named by Ben Chilwell as his toughest opponent.

Someone recently asked Chilwell in a video on The Footy Culture TikTok account to name the best player he’s ever played against.

As a reaction, the Englishman, who has played 192 times in the Premier League and the Champions League, said Riyad Mahrez.

Mahrez used to scare defenses.
This isn’t the first time that a 33-year-old’s former Leicester partner has talked about how good he is. In May, Kasper Schmeichel called Mahrez a “world-class” player.

City paid £60 million (via BBC Sport) to get Mahrez from Leicester in the summer of 2018.

The winger played 236 times for Pep Guardiola’s team at the Etihad Stadium and scored 78 goals, set up 56 others, and won many titles.

After winning the Premier League with Chelsea, the winger moved to Al Ahli in the summer of 2023.

Mahrez and Chilwell played 37 games together at Leicester, so the fullback knows a lot about how the former City star played.

There were five times that the Algerian played against his former Leicester partner and won three times and lost two.

Mahrez also scored a goal in City’s 3-1 win over Leicester in the 2019–20 season, which was against Chilwell.

Having shown himself to be such a dangerous attacker, Chilwell probably wasn’t the only defender who had trouble stopping the former City player.
