28-year-old Manchester City midfielder Rodri explains his reason why he dislikes playing along side with his teammate Ederson
At times, Rodri, a player for Manchester City, is quiet on the field.
The man who makes £220,000 a week always seems to be able to control his feelings, and it shows in the way he plays: calm, stylish, and quietly sure of himself.
The only time the City star might have done something stupid on the field was when he got into a fight with Morgan Gibbs-White during his team’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest last season.
He was sent off after putting his hands around the Englishman’s neck after pushing him a few times.
Aside from that one game, the Spanish player never seems to get hot on the field.
Only when Rodri celebrates a goal or a win does he show how passionate he is.
There are some great defensive midfielders, like Sergio Busquets and N’Golo Kante, who the 28-year-old seems cool, calm, and collected.
But guys like Rodri often play in games with a lot at stake and a lot of pressure.
So, it makes sense that they would feel the weight of demands during a game.
Even more so when Pep Guardiola’s team has played a Premier League title rival like Liverpool or Arsenal in the last few years.
Often, these kinds of games decide who wins the title.
When there are lots of good things on both sides, even small mistakes can be punished.
Rodri told BBC Sport that his partner doesn’t like it when Ederson Moraes passes the ball to him just outside the box because he thinks he might make a mistake that costs a lot of money.
