50-year-old football coach Lee Carsley delivered his verdict over England and Manchester City midfielder Jack Grealish after their win against Ireland on Saturday
Jack Grealish from Manchester City was called back up to the England team for the Nations League games that happened during the break.
The winger was not picked to play for England in the 2024 European Championship over the summer.
Grealish was called up by interim England boss Lee Carsley and played a key role in England’s 2-0 win over Ireland. This set up the Three Lions well for their next game on Tuesday against Finland.
Not long after meeting the City star, Carsley was quick to say what he thought about what he did on the field in an unfriendly environment.
After England vs. Ireland, Lee Carsley drops the opinion on Jack Grealish.
After the game, at 7:12 PM on ITV, Carsley talked about Grealish and how he sees the player, as well as how he thought he played against Ireland and how he should keep going.
He told them, “I don’t think he has anything to prove to us.” We can see how good he is.
“I believe that helped him a lot today because he scored another goal for England. Hopefully, he can keep up that form.”
Grealish did a good job against Ireland.
When Grealish is in top shape, Troy Deeney said before the Ireland game that he thinks he is one of the best players in the world.
Grealish started against Ireland in a deeper midfield role instead of his usual left wing spot for City. He played for 76 minutes before Morgan Gibbs-White came on to replace him.
The three-time Premier League winner scored England’s second goal and also made two important passes, got called for four fouls, and won five of the six ground duels he was in.
As a result, Grealish got a good match rating of 8.3/10 from SofaScore, which made him the second-best-rated England player that day, after Declan Rice (9/10).
Now that Carsley has said again that he has no doubts about Grealish’s skill or his commitment to the national team, these words along with his performance against Ireland should give the City attacker a lot more confidence.
