BREAKING Arsenal dealt a significant triple injury blow with a fresh setback ahead of the Liverpool meeting. Arsenal could be without Bukayo Saka,

Jurrien Timber, and Riccardo Calafiori for Sunday’s game against Liverpool after the trio did not attend open training on Friday. The Gunners already have captain Martin Odegaard sidelined and will have a stretched team for the weekend. Mikel Arteta said this week that it was “close” whether Saka would recover from his muscle ailment in time, having picked up the problem while on England earlier this month. Timber has not played since October 1. In addition to the suspension of William Saliba, who was sent off against Bournemouth last Saturday, fellow defender Calafiori suffered a knee injury in Tuesday’s Champions League match against Shakhtar Donetsk. He was absent from training on Friday, as were Saka and Timber.

As recovered from his setback and started the previous two games, Takehiro Tomiyasu remains doubtful, and Kieran Tierney has yet to recover from his long-term hamstring ailment. It leaves Arteta with just White, Gabriel Magalhaes, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Jakub Kiwior as his assured defenders. Saliba and Gabriel have played together in every Premier League game this season. Kiwior, who was twice substituted against Bournemouth, is a natural centre-back, while White can play centrally but hasn’t done so in over a year. Arsenal has only scored once in Saka’s absence, and it was an own goal against Shakhtar. The winger has seven assists, three Liverpool’s Diogo Jota seems set to miss the game, with Arne Slot confirming he would not train on Friday. The forward was pulled off with a torso injury in last Sunday’s victory over Chelsea. Federico Chiesa and Conor Bradley may train, but their status remains uncertain. Alisson’s recuperation from his hamstring injury is going well, according to Slot, but he will be out for a while. Harvey Elliott has yet to recover from his foot fracture. This season, he has scored goals in ten outings.
