The Boston Celtics and the Indiana Pacers will play each other for the first time since the Eastern Conference playoffs last year.

The game will take place at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Thursday. The Celtics beat the Pacers 4-0 last season on their way to winning their 18th NBA title. They will be looking to make it five straight wins in this series since losing by a score of 133–131 on January 9.

It was the second straight game that the Indiana Pacers lost in a close one. This time, it was 119-115 to the Orlando Magic at the Kia Center. In the first half, the Pacers were behind 71–59, and All-Star forward Paolo Banchero tied the Magic’s record for points with 37. But in the third quarter, they turned it up a notch, outscoring Orlando 39–22 to take a five-point lead into the fourth.

There was a big comeback by the Magic in the fourth quarter, led by 21-year-old Banchero, who scored 50 points to set a new club record. The Magic went on to win by four points and improve their season record to 3-1.

Even though Pascal Siakam only made two of seven shots in the fourth quarter, he led Indiana with 26 points, and Tyrese Haliburton finished with a double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Rick Carlisle’s team has lost all three games since their season opener, a 115-109 win over the Detroit Pistons on October 24.

Their most recent loss was a 118-114 overtime loss to the Philadelphia 76ers in their first home game on October 27. The Pacers will try to get back on track and get their first home win of the season. However, their next opponent has won all five of their previous games, including a 4-0 run in last year’s Eastern Conference final.

The Indiana Pacers are still without center James Wiseman, who is 23 years old and is still getting back to full health after surgery for an Achilles injury. Johnny Furphy was sick and couldn’t play in the last game against the Orlando Magic. The 19-year-old rookie is still uncertain for Thursday’s game.

Unfortunately for Mazzulla and the Boston Celtics, Porzingis, their experienced center, will not be able to play because he is still out with a foot injury from June. Sam Hauser missed Tuesday’s win over the Milwaukee Bucks because of a back issue.

The forward, who scored nine points per game last year, is thought to be day-to-day before Thursday’s game. The Indiana Pacers could start Haliburton, Nembhard, Turner, Nesmith, and Siamam. Holiday, White, Brown, Tatum, and Al Horford are some possible starting fives for the Boston Celtics.
