Ruben Amorim has recently suggested that he may issue a wake-up call to the Manchester United players, stating, “I have to show.”
Ruben Amorim has conducted himself admirably since the confirmation of Erik ten Hag’s dismissal. Just hours after Ten Hag was dismissed, Amorim became the leading candidate to succeed him.
He participated in Sporting Lisbon press conferences prior to being officially appointed.
To the relief of United staff members, the 39-year-old is a savvy communicator who has already made a strong impression on supporters before he even arrived in Manchester.
The manner in which Amorim addressed the media during press conferences and Sporting’s victory over Manchester City in the Champions League were responsible for this. Fans were eager to catch a glimpse of him upon his arrival at Manchester airport, which marked the commencement of his tenure.
Amorim proceeded directly to Carrington from the airport. He is unable to “coach on grass” as he is still awaiting his visa.
However, he did introduce himself to the personnel and explore the training ground. When the Premier League resumes following the international break, his inaugural match as United’s manager will be against Ipswich Town. His team selection will be captivating. Amorim employs a 3-4-3 formation, and the initial line-up of his tenure at Portman Road will be scrutinised by all.
Amorim has indicated that he intends to confront the situation head-on on Sunday, despite some suggestions that he may initially resort to tactical compromise and progressively implement his philosophy.
Amorim was asked in his post-match press conference how long it would take to see his philosophy at United after overseeing a 4-2 victory in his penultimate game as coach of Sporting. Amorim stated in flawless English, “I am aware of my approach to the game at the outset, as it is essential to commence with a structure that is familiar.”
“You will then adjust to the players you have, whether they have injuries or not, and determine which players possess the skills to defend and attack.”
“I will ascertain that within the next few weeks.” I must demonstrate to the participants something that I am extremely knowledgeable about, as we have limited time to train. You are free to extract any information you desire from that.
Amorim’s response suggested that he will not squander any time in attempting to communicate his message and that he will be cognisant of the critical principles that must be communicated during training sessions in order to prepare for Ipswich.
In an ideal scenario, a new coach would prefer to have a complete pre-season to restructure a team’s tactical setup. However, Amorim’s appointment during the campaign will exacerbate the challenge.
