Ross McCormack acknowledges that Rangers are “petrified” of a Celtic icon, but it is not Daizen Maeda.Since joining Rangers in December 2021, Daizen Maeda has caused significant injury to the team.

The Japanese winger is utterly devastating when he is in top form, and his pace completely devastates opposition defences. The Celtic supporters’ affection for the Japan international is not surprising, given Maeda’s exceptional work ethic. Nevertheless, Ross McCormack, a former Ibrox player, anticipates the forthcoming League Cup final between Celtic and Rangers.

He claims that his former team is alarmed by a single player, who, to his surprise, is not Maeda. Celtic legend Kyogo Furuhashi is “terrifying” to Rangers defenders. In an interview with Hotline Live [9m 30s], McCormack stated, “I do not believe that there is sufficient fear factor for Celtic to face Dessers when Rangers visit Celtic Park.”

And I reverse that and observe that the Rangers’ defence appears apprehensive about the potential of Kyogo to inflict damage on them whenever they play Celtic.

“And that is the influence Kyogo has had on all of the goals he has scored against Rangers in the derby games.” Dessers, as I previously stated, is satisfactory to a certain extent. He performs his duties to a certain extent. Is he the necessary component for the Rangers to advance to the next level and achieve success in terms of trophies and titles? I do not believe so.

Kyogo Furuhashi’s Celtic record against Rangers, which includes a League Cup final assault Kyogo has encountered Rangers on 15 separate occasions during his tenure at Celtic. In those contests, the Japanese have emerged victorious on nine occasions, while they have also drawn three and lost three.

The Celtic striker has maintained the Ibrox club’s position by scoring eight goals in three domestic competitions. Kyogo has scored against Rangers in the following games: Scottish Premiership 1.1.2023: Rangers 2 vs. Celtic (2). Kyogo struck a late equaliser. Rangers defeated Celtic 3–2 on April 8, 2023.

The title is effectively secured by a Kyogo double. Rangers defeat Celtic 1-0 on March 9, 2023, with Kyogo scoring the sole goal of the match to secure the victory at Ibrox.

Celtic 2 v 1 Rangers: New Year derby resolved by another Kyogo goal on December 30, 2023. 01.09.2024: Celtic 3–0 Rangers: Kyogo scores a stunning goal in a rout of Rangers at Celtic Park. Scottish League Cup Rangers 1 v 2 on February 26, 2023. Kyogo executes this action:

McCormack is correct; Rangers are and should be terrified of the Celtic talisman.
