it is not Viktor Gyokeres. One of Manchester City’s players has recently disclosed that he would relish the opportunity to compete under Pep Guardiola, following their recent defeat by Sporting CP.

Manchester City is currently experiencing a four-game losing streak, which is causing supporters to become increasingly apprehensive about the upcoming season. Rodri has been rendered unavailable for the foreseeable future due to injury, and his absence is deeply felt by City.

Sporting CP was the site of City’s third defeat in the Champions League. In Lisbon, the Portuguese champions capitalised on some questionable defending to secure a 4-1 victory. Viktor Gyokeres was the star of the show, as he scored a hat-trick. After the contest, a Sporting player disclosed that he aspires to join Manchester City; however, it was not Gyokeres.

A few weeks ago, Gyokeres was the centre of attention when Sporting defeated City at the Jose Alvalade Stadium. However, left wing-back Maxi Araujo also scored a goal. In the opening seconds of the second half, he executed an exceptional team move.

The Uruguayan international also demonstrated a high level of aggression and physicality in his marking of Savinho. In recent weeks, City have been associated with a potential acquisition of Gyokeres, with Hugo Viana reportedly showing interest.

However, there is no indication that he would genuinely desire to become a member of the organisation. Guardiola also refuted rumours regarding Gyokeres, highlighting his incumbent number nine, Erling Haaland. Nevertheless, Araujo is one individual who is interested in that change. Following the game, he requested a photograph with Pep Guardiola.

He expressed his optimism to O Jogo by saying, “I trust that… I requested a photograph from him (Guardiola), and we conversed for a few minutes. He also extended his congratulations. And I am exceedingly pleased about it. We discussed the game, but it was not particularly substantive.

Is it advisable for Manchester City to pursue the acquisition of Maxi Araujo? When City and Sporting faced off a few weeks ago, Araujo made an intriguing comment that left a lasting impression.

The South American has been with Sporting since the summer, following his transfer from Mexican club Toluca. However, he has had a respectable start, appearing in 12 matches and contributing two goals and one assist.
