The 24-year-old’s close-range strike was instrumental in Italy’s advancement to the quarter-finals of the Nations League. Italy will play their final group encounter against France in Milan on Sunday.

 

Tonali scored his first competitive goal since his Newcastle United Premier League debut against Aston Villa in August 2023. Tonali has returned to action and has been a consistent starter for the Italy team after serving a 10-month betting suspension.

Tonali received a 7.5/10 match rating from Football Italia, which is the joint highest of any player, alongside goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
