Arsenal is in pursuit of an additional Premier League striker, who is estimated to be worth £45 million.
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal is one of several prominent clubs that are reportedly monitoring Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.
The 21-year-old forward has made a significant impact in the Premier League this season, scoring six goals despite being a member of a team that is presently in a relegation battle.
Numerous organisations throughout Europe and England have expressed interest in Delap’s performances.
According to reports, Arsenal is competing with Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Ajax, and PSV, all of which are reportedly monitoring the England U21 international.
It is anticipated that Ipswich will request a transfer fee of €40-50 million for Delap; however, Manchester City may have a significant advantage.
If the reigning Premier League champions elect to re-enter the contest, they may be the favourites to secure the signature of their former player, who has a £20 million buy-back clause.
Arsenal’s pursuit of Delap is consistent with their continuous pursuit of attacking reinforcements.
The Gunners have been associated with high-profile strikers in recent transfer windows, including Alexander Isak of Newcastle, Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig, Viktor Gyökeres of Sporting CP, Mateo Retegui of Atalanta, and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford.
Arsenal purportedly identified Isak as a priority signing last summer; however, Newcastle were hesitant to sell the Swedish forward.
Isak continues to be a desirable target due to his exceptional performances and Thierry Henry-esque style; however, a transfer would likely necessitate a proposal exceeding £100 million.
Benjamin Sesko, who was also under consideration by Arsenal, chose to remain at RB Leipzig.
Meanwhile, Viktor Gyökeres has thrived at Sporting CP, which has piqued the interest of Manchester United under his former manager Ruben Amorim.
In the interim, Arsenal may also consider Bryan Mbeumo and Mateo Retegui as potential targets. Delap, on the other hand, provides Arsenal with a more cost-effective and long-term alternative.
His recent performance indicates that he is prepared to assume a more prominent role, rendering him a viable candidate to enhance Mikel Arteta’s attacking capabilities.
