I departed Newcastle United and Liverpool in pursuit of first-team football; however, I am now contemplating retirement at the age of 31.

Loris Karius remains without a club five months after departing Newcastle United.

Newcastle signed Karius as a free agent in 2022; however, he only appeared in two competitive matches during his tenure.

In February 2023, the Germany international made his Magpies debut in an unexpected manner during the Carabao Cup final loss to Manchester United. Nick Pope was suspended, and Martin Dubravka was cup-tied.

Karius was dismissed in the summer after starting a 4-1 defeat at Arsenal a year later due to fitness issues for Pope and Dubravka.

The former Liverpool custodian, who expressed his intention to join an Italian club in order to be closer to his wife and daughter, engaged a new agent earlier this year.

Karius stated in a recent interview with Sport Bible, “Of course, you must consider retirement if you have been out for as long as I have…

” I have not yet reached a conclusion, as there is no necessity for me to do so. Still, I am in good physical condition. I continue to possess the capacity and potential.

“However, if a door remains closed, I must be forthright and say to myself, ‘Listen.'” I have a plethora of other activities that I am passionate about and am willing to invest time and effort into.

I do not believe it would have a significant impact on me, as I have already been undergoing this procedure for the past few years.

“I am of the opinion that I still possess the requisite attributes to excel as a keeper.” However, I will not consent to an offer solely for the sake of playing somewhere if it does not align with my preferences.

Karius has not participated in regular first-team football since his loan stint at Beşiktaş during the 2019-20 season.

The 31-year-old appeared in 49 matches for Liverpool during his tenure, but his final match for the club was a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the 2018 Champions League final.

was found to be responsible for two of Madrid’s goals during the match, as it was subsequently discovered that he continued to play despite suffering a concussion.
