Regulations established by the Premier League are poised to prohibit a £43 million transaction.

Two players from Newcastle United will be navigating a precarious disciplinary situation over the forthcoming six matches.

Newcastle will entertain Liverpool in the Premier League on Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM, facing only a limited number of injury concerns.

Alexander Isak has confirmed his availability following a minor injury, while Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles, and Emil Krafth are unavailable due to injuries.

No players will be absent from the match due to suspension, although several are on the verge of incurring a restriction.

According to the regulations of the Premier League, any player who receives five yellow cards within the first 19 matches of the season is required to serve a one-match suspension.

Dan Burn previously served a suspension during the match at St James’ Park against West Ham United.

He subsequently returned to the team after a three-week absence, participating in the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It is possible that Burn would have been unable to participate in the West Ham match regardless, as he was in the process of recuperating from an ankle injury.

“Upon his suspension, we seized the opportunity to allow him to rest his ankle and ensure he returns to full fitness,” stated Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe.

During the period in which he was not participating in matches, he experienced a range of emotions; he felt unwell and subsequently consulted a specialist. Furthermore, his training time was significantly limited.

Therefore, I found his performance against Crystal Palace to be exceptional, particularly when taking these factors into account.

Subsequent to the game, he experienced a sense of well-being. Having now completed his ban, Burn must refrain from accumulating 10 yellow cards within 32 matches; failure to do so will result in a two-match suspension.

Concurrently, Newcastle faces the imminent threat of suspension for both Joelinton and Fabian Schar, as each player has accrued four yellow cards during the first 13 league matches of the 2024-25 season.

Within Newcastle’s squad, there exist additional players who may be at a marginal risk of suspension should they not maintain their composure in the forthcoming matches.

Lewis Hall and Sandro Tonali must refrain from receiving an additional two yellow cards in Newcastle’s forthcoming six matches, as they have already accumulated three bookings throughout the season.

Meanwhile, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff, Joe Willock, and Lloyd Kelly have each been cautioned twice. Jacob Murphy, Nick Pope, Anthony Gordon, and Callum Wilson have each received one yellow card.

Subsequent to the completion of the 19th match, the criteria for disciplinary actions will be adjusted; specifically, the threshold will increase to 10 infractions, 32 matches, and a two-match suspension.

Joelinton was the most recent Newcastle player to receive a two-match suspension due to the accumulation of ten yellow cards during the 2022-23 season.

Any player who receives 15 cautions throughout the season is subject to a three-match suspension; however, no player has ever accumulated that number of cautions in a single Premier League season.
