Newcastle United icon Alan Shearer has expressed his discontent regarding the demeanor exhibited by several players of the Magpies during their disappointing 4-2 loss to Brentford on Saturday.
There were considerable expectations that Eddie Howe’s team could contend for a position in European competition by capitalizing on a commendable performance against the current Premier League leaders, Liverpool, and securing all three points against Brentford.
Notwithstanding their commendable victories against prominent teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea this season, United faltered against an opponent positioned outside the Premier League’s conventional ‘top six.’
They were duly penalized for a lamentably subpar performance against Thomas Frank’s team.
The score was tied when the half-time whistle was blown, following goals from Alexander Isak and Harvey Barnes, which equalized the efforts of the home team’s Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa.
However, during the second half, one team clearly dominated the match, as the hosts secured all three points with goals from Nathan Collins and substitute Kevin Schade.
