“INCREDIBLE” The Best FIFA Men’s Player vote reveals Lionel Messi’s true colors.
The Best FIFA Men’s Player vote reveals Lionel Messi’s true colors.
Lionel Messi did not select Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid as his preferred candidate for the Best FIFA Men’s Player award; rather, he endorsed Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
Vinicius, who was disappointed that he was unable to surpass Rodri for the Ballon d’Or award earlier this season, achieved his own triumph by winning this trophy, which is determined by the votes of international captains, managers, and media representatives.
The Real Madrid player outperformed Rodri in the captaincy vote, earning 617 points to Rodri’s 373. However, Messi only received one of those points, as the Argentina superstar had Vinicius in third place.
Messi placed his Madrid teammate Kylian Mbappe in second place, but he awarded Yamal his entire five points, resulting in his fifth-place finish in the voting.
Messi was one of only ten commanders to place Yamal in the first position, along with those from Afghanistan, American Samoa, Bahamas, Botswana, Brunei, Honduras, Seychelles, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.
In a joint message to Barcelona Femeni starlet Vicky Lopez, who won the Golden Girl reward, the Inter Miami star made it clear his affection for Yamal after the latter received the Golden Boy award last month.
“Lamine, Vicky: this award is the result not only of talent but of hard work and sacrifice,” Messi asserted. It is a privilege to have you as a member of Messi+10. Congratulations and continue to excel.
