Manchester City is currently in the process of arranging for the early introduction of a new hierarchy member in anticipation of the 2025 squad rebuild.
Manchester City, the Premier League champions, are purportedly in the process of arranging the early entry of a new member of the club’s recruitment hierarchy.
The current Manchester City operation, which is under the leadership of Pep Guardiola, is anticipated to enter a new phase in 2025. However, there are also significant alterations in the club’s hierarchy.
After 12 seasons and the most successful period in the club’s existence, it has been officially announced that Txiki Begiristain will be stepping down. In turn, Begiristain has also been instrumental in the identification and recruitment of his successor.
Hugo Viana has reportedly agreed to the transfer and is reportedly in the process of arranging an arrival prior to the 2025 summer transfer window.
Nevertheless, a recent report has outlined a desire to appoint Viana to commence the process of reconstructing the squad earlier than previously agreed, in light of the ongoing challenges across competitions that Guardiola’s all-conquering squad is facing.
According to TBR Football, Manchester City is currently anticipating the completion of an agreement with Sporting CP that would enable the incoming director of football, Hugo Viana, to arrive at the Etihad Stadium prior to the conclusion of the current season.
It is clarified that the Premier League champions must commence their new season with a bang next summer, as they anticipate a “squad overhaul.” Therefore, City would prefer that the 41-year-old appear prior to the main market.
Nevertheless, Manchester City is not advocating for Hugo Viana to join the club in January, as it is considered unrealistic due to Sporting Lisbon’s own requirements.
However, they remain optimistic that he may appear shortly thereafter. Pep Guardiola has maintained a relatively low profile regarding Hugo Viana and their collaboration, stating to the media in recent weeks, “I am eager to talk to him this season.”
The City manager continued by emphasizing, “However, I believe that he maintains frequent communication with Ferran Soriano and Txiki [Begiristain], and I am optimistic that we will be able to establish contact within the next few weeks or months.”
