Marcus Rashford was overlooked by Cristiano Ronaldo when he designated only three Manchester United players as “top professionals.”
Cristiano Ronaldo referred to only three Manchester United players as “top professionals” during his second stint at the club.
In an interview with journalist Henry Winter earlier this week, Marcus Rashford appeared to refute allegations regarding his lack of professionalism by asserting that he is “prepared” for a new challenge.
“I do feel misunderstood, but I am content with it,” he stated. “I am a particularly straightforward individual.”
I am an avid football fan. From the outset, that has been my existence. Rashford’s absence from Ruben Amorim’s matchday squad for the Premier League match against Manchester City last weekend prompted inquiries regarding his professionalism and attitude.
Amorim verified that the decision to withdraw both Alejandro Garnacho and Rashford was not based on disciplinary issues; however, he appeared to be skeptical of their training performances.
Ronaldo did not mention Rashford, but he did name-check three players he considered to be “top professionals” during his second stint at Old Trafford.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner did, however, praise fellow Portugal international Diogo Dalot as a professional and predicted that he would remain at the highest level for an extended period.
Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro, Ronaldo’s teammates at Real Madrid, were also recognized for their commitment. During the infamous interview with Piers Morgan, Ronaldo was asked about the players he admires.
He responded, “In Manchester United, I can mention Dalot. He is young, but he is very professional. I am confident that he will have a long career in football because he is young, smart, intelligent, and very professional.”
Ronaldo also criticized the younger generation of players in the current game, asserting that they lack the same “hunger” that players possessed when he was emerging. “I do not believe that they lack respect for the older or more experienced players; however, they reside in a different era.”
He stated, “I can confirm that the mentality is not the same for my 12-year-old child.” “Their hunger is distinct.” I believe they do not care, they do not suffer, and they have things more readily.
