Brendan Rodgers provides an update on the status of Greg Taylor’s Celtic contract.
Brendan Rodgers has once again addressed the Celtic contract predicament of Greg Taylor, who is approaching the conclusion of his contract at Parkhead.
The 27-year-old’s afternoon in the Premier Sports Cup final last Sunday was a rollercoaster, as he contributed to Rangers’ opening goal and then scored the equalizer at Hampden to tie the game.
Nevertheless, Greg Taylor has now achieved ten main honors at Celtic, which makes him one of the most numerically influential figures in the Bhoys’ recent history.Taylor, despite his accomplishments, is set to expire from his Celtic contract next summer.
He is eligible to sign a pre-contract agreement outside of Scotland in January, provided that he agrees to a contract extension within the next few weeks.
His supporters have engaged in a significant amount of discourse regarding his uncertain future. Brendan Rodgers has now expressed his opinion on the current state of his full-back position.
Brendan Rodgers remains optimistic regarding the Celtics’ situation with Greg Taylor Rodgers expressed optimism that Taylor will sign new terms with Celtic prior to their upcoming match against Dundee United.
However, he acknowledged that the club will need to present a compelling offer to ensure that they secure his commitment.
When inquired about his future, he responded, “I would hope so; I believe I have expressed this sentiment on numerous occasions.”
Greg, he is of paramount importance to our team, as the development of a squad is never solely reliant on the performance of its starters. The entire team is involved.
“You desire a depth to that, so he is a player with whom I have had the pleasure of collaborating on and off the field.
I have previously expressed my desire for him to remain, and I will reiterate it: I am eager for him to remain.” I am optimistic that an agreement can be arranged between the club and his representatives.
“However, I also recognize that he is 27 years old and this will be one of the last significant contracts of his career. Consequently, we must ensure that all details are accurate. However, I am certain that I am eager for him to be present.”
I derive immense pleasure from collaborating with him; I particularly appreciate the opportunity to observe him on a daily basis. He consistently attends each training session, and I consider him to be of paramount importance to our team. Celtic’s behemoth in the room is Kieran Tierney.
Rodgers’ remarks essentially restate information that is already widely known; however, the revelation that Celtic is interested in Kieran Tierney introduces a new dimension to discussions regarding Taylor’s future.
It is, of course, uncertain whether the Bhoys will be able to finalize a contract for the Arsenal player. Nevertheless, it is inevitable that speculation will at least sow a few seeds for all parties involved. Taylor has been an exceptional servant for Celtic, contributing nine goals and 30 assists in 194 appearances.
A new contract would be well-deserved, although it is evident that he is making a thorough assessment of all available alternatives.
