Newcastle United
The potential acquisition of Everton’s prominent player, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, by Newcastle United during the upcoming summer transfer window remains uncertain.
Newcastle United has maintained a longstanding interest in acquiring Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the upcoming summer transfer window.
The forward has been associated with a potential transfer to Newcastle United for several years, and discussions regarding a move to the Toon persist as he approaches the final months of his contract at Goodison Park.
He is poised to become available on a free transfer, and Calvert-Lewin is a potential candidate to succeed Callum Wilson at Newcastle United. Although he may not be a widely favoured inclusion, Newcastle confronts a formidable challenge in finding a suitable replacement for Wilson.
Calvert-Lewin appears to be an optimal choice, whereas the possibility of acquiring an exceptional talent such as Jonathan David remains a mere fiction. His arrival is contingent upon the departure of Alexander Isak, a scenario that is undesirable for any supporter of Newcastle United.
Ben Jacobs offers a prognosis regarding Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s potential transfer to Newcastle.Indeed, journalist Ben Jacobs has articulated on NUFC Matters via YouTube his rationale for believing that the 27-year-old player will not be joining Eddie Howe’s team during the summer transfer window.
“I do not believe that Newcastle is the destination for Calvert-Lewin,” he stated. “Newcastle effectively reached an agreement with Everton; however, no arrangement was established with Calvert-Lewin.” I am uncertain whether his specific demands and the associated costs of the agreement have genuinely altered.
“My intuition suggests that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is likely to pursue opportunities elsewhere.” Jacobs remarked, “I believe that the prospect of Newcastle acquiring Dominic Calvert-Lewin, based on my information, has diminished significantly compared to six or twelve months ago.”
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s robust stance regarding his transfer status. According to Jacobs, Newcastle came exceedingly close to securing the signing of Calvert-Lewin during the summer transfer window.
The original arrangement involved Newcastle acquiring the striker, with Yankuba Minteh transferring in the opposite direction to join Everton. That was when both organisations were aiming to comply with PSR.However, the agreement regarding the Calvert-Lewin transaction was ultimately terminated, as complications arose concerning the personal terms.
Jacobs believes that they may pose a challenge this summer as well, which is a reasonable concern. Calvert-Lewin will possess a robust negotiating advantage, as he will not incur a transfer fee due to his status as a free agent. The rationale is identical to that which enabled Lloyd Kelly to command a higher salary at Newcastle, as the Magpies were not required to compensate Bournemouth for his acquisition.
This may constitute a factor that inhibits Newcastle from acquiring Calvert-Lewin. Nevertheless, it is unequivocal that the Magpies must acquire a forward in 2025, irrespective of any other considerations. Callum Wilson appears poised to depart from Newcastle, while Eddie Howe has yet to fully place his confidence in Will Osula as a suitable backup for Alexander Isak.
