“If he believes that he is the greatest in history…” – KARIM BENZEMA HOLDS UP THE LID ON FORMER REAL MADRID TEAMMATE CRISTIANO RONALDO Al-Ittihad striker Karim Benzema (37) has responded to Cristiano Ronaldo’s (40) assertion that he is the finest football player of all time.
Six months after Ronaldo terminated his Manchester United contract to sign for Al-Nassr, the former France international followed in the Portuguese’s footsteps by joining the Saudi Pro League.
Ronaldo and Benzema continue to score goals for enjoyment in the absence of the European football spotlight. With 16 goals, the erstwhile Real Madrid teammates are tied at the top of the league’s goalscoring charts. Benzema has expressed his perspective on whether the five-time Ballon d’Or winner was deserving of the title of the GOAT in an interview with TNT Sports.
“I am of the opinion that anyone has the right to express their thoughts,” stated the Al-Ittihad center-forward. “If he believes that he is the greatest in history…then he is.” The Frenchman stated that a multitude of players could potentially participate in the GOAT debate. The Lyon Academy product had reaffirmed that the greatest player of all time was the Brazilian striker Ronaldo.
