Dan Campbell analyses each new Detroit Lions coaching appointment. Detroit Lions coach Dan Campbell made his first media appearance on Tuesday since the team finalised their coaching staff for the 2025 season.

Detroit’s coaching staff encountered numerous personnel changes, including the replacement of both coordinators and six additional instructors who were promoted to other positions.

During his NFL Combine press conference, Campbell provided his opinions on a significant number of the 10 new players the Lions recruited for 2025. Campbell’s assessment of each instructor is summarised below: Lions’ new offensive coordinator John Morton “When we assembled this, he was involved.” In my opinion, it was the most advantageous course of action for us to have him return to this location. I have a great deal of faith and trust in him.

Goff is acquainted with him and feels at ease with him. He has a strong rapport with Hank (Fraley) and Bru (Mark Brunell), and the addition of David Shaw, who has a long history with John Morton, was particularly significant for us. Transferring Scottie Montgomery to the position of wide receiver coach ”

I believe this will be beneficial for us.” Scottie is an invaluable asset to us, and his exceptional coaching abilities have resulted in him gaining control of the entire receiver room and the pass game. He will be a significant component of our pass game, much like David Shaw will be. However, his influence will be substantial. It has been a game of running backs. “He is currently coaching an increasing number of players, and his influence on the passing game will be substantial.

” Tashard Choice, the instructor of the running backs, “He is likely one of the most sought-after running backs coaches to emerge from college in recent years.” He will be an asset to the individuals in the running backs’ unit. Certainly, he has a rapport with Gibbs. I anticipate that Montgomery will appreciate him. Tyler Roehl, the

TE instructor “A young man who worked as a coordinator at North Dakota State before becoming the running backs coach at Iowa State.” I was in direct contact with him when I interviewed him two years ago. This year was the appropriate year. Bruce Gradkowski and Marques Tuiasosopo, offensive assistants “I was astounded by the experience of sitting down with both of those individuals, man.”

They were, you know, I always think of it as no different than players like those people belong to us, you know? They are a part of us. I felt the same way during the interviews with Tuiasosopo and Gradkowski. It was as though, “Man, these individuals are meant to be here.” They should be present with us, as I can already see that they are planning to depart.

I anticipate that they will serve as exceptional mentors for us. Bruce will be assisting Scotty in the receiver room at this time, and Marques will be in the quarterback room with Bru (Mark Brunell). Promotion of Kelvin Sheppard to the position of defensive coordinator “I have consistently maintained that Shep has the potential to be an exceptional coach.”

It was approximately two years ago that I had the impression that this individual would be prepared to assume the role of coordinator in the near future. Therefore, AG (Aaron Glenn) and I had discussed the matter and attempted to assign him additional responsibilities over the past two years. With this in mind, he recognises that this is the subsequent step. Nothing was ever promised to him without his knowledge.

I felt extremely confident about that; he is prepared. He is prepared. Kacy Rodgers, the defensive line instructor “He served as our assistant defensive line coach during my tenure as a player in Dallas.” Therefore, that was my initial encounter with him, and I subsequently collaborated with him while coaching the Miami Dolphins. Therefore, I have observed him instruct.

I am aware of his personality. I am aware of the dynamics of the defensive line when he is instructing them. Therefore, I have consistently held him in high regard. I was privileged to have the opportunity to coach alongside him and Terrell (Williams). Therefore, it was only logical to pursue him when I realised that there was an opportunity to acquire him and that he would be available.

I believe he will be an excellent addition to our defensive line. I believe that Hutch (Aidan Hutchinson) and those individuals will develop a strong affinity for him and be drawn to him. Additionally, he is a member of our community; he is committed to conducting himself in a manner that is ethical.

He is a diligent worker who possesses a strong understanding of the game and the scheme, and he is also well-versed in the fundamentals, which he employs to take on his opponents. [subsequently] “(Williams) is one of the most exceptional defensive line coaches in the league, if not the best.” I believe that he and Kacy are one and the same.
