Following the ‘annoying’ Liverpool and Arsenal connections, Newcastle United’s CEO has issued an official warning to Alexander Isak. Newcastle has recently achieved a record revenue of £320.3 million for the 2023-24 season and have reduced their losses to a mere £11.1 million.
The club is in a significantly stronger financial position at the onset of the summer transfer window than it was last year, when it was forced to scramble to comply with Premier League Profitability and Sustainability Rules, as a result of increased revenue and a lack of spending over the last three transfer windows.
The club was able to comply with PSR and prevent a points deduction by selling Yankuba Minteh and Elliot Anderson before the June 30 financial deadline last summer. Newcastle has since maintained a tight financial situation, with expenditure kept to a minimum. Players like Miguel Almiron and Lloyd Kelly have since moved on to Atlanta United and Juventus, respectively.
Alexander Isak, Newcastle’s leading scorer, has been frequently associated with potential departures from the club, as Liverpool and Arsenal have expressed significant interest. Isak has already scored 22 goals for The Magpies this season, and the club has no plans to sell him or any other vital player this summer.
Eales stated, “We are currently in a situation where we have the desire and ability to retain our key players, as we were able to move a few players in January [2025] who were not significantly affecting the minutes on the pitch.”
“They are all subject to long-term contracts.” Therefore, from that standpoint, we have no intention of relocating those individuals, and we are not feeling any pressure. Newcastle supporters have become increasingly irritated with the persistent media narrative that associates Isak with other clubs, despite the fact that he is under contract at St James’ Park until June 2028.
Eagles, “It is a component of football,” when questioned about the media speculation. You would prefer to have individuals discussing players than not, as we are aware that he is a world-class player and someone that other clubs would naturally desire due to his exceptional talent.
