Brendan Rodgers sends former Celtic coach a direct message after Ange Postecoglou team Tottenham wins the Europa League

The Europa League was won by Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night, and Ange Postecoglou delivered the ultimate comeback to his detractors.

Tottenham defeated Manchester United 1-0 in the Bilbao final, a game that was characterised by a lack of substance and scrappiness between the two Premier League strugglers.

However, Postecoglou, the former Celtic manager, has emerged victorious and has fulfilled his commitment to consistently win trophies in his second seasons at clubs, as he did for the Hoops in 2022/23.

The SPFL also posted a brilliant tribute to the victorious Spurs manager, while Celtic congratulated Ange on social media last night.

Brendan Rodgers has now delivered his own message to Ange, having observed the final on television, with only two days remaining until his own Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.

The Northern Irishman was interviewed by the press prior to the Celtic vs Aberdeen match at Hampden this Saturday. However, he was questioned about Ange’s accomplishments with Spurs.

Rodgers is overjoyed for the individual who succeeded him at Parkhead and has criticised the Australian-Greek for the “nonsense” they have directed at him this season.

The Celtic manager stated, “Yes, it was brilliant.” I am exceedingly delighted for Ange on a personal level. It is evident that this season has been challenging, and he has been forced to contend with a significant amount of foolishness.

“I was ecstatic to witness his happiness and the team’s success at the conclusion of the game.”

“However, it is an absolute revelation for him.” I believe he has arrived at that point; he has exerted himself, introduced an idea to the club, and is endeavouring to alter a culture, which is never a simple task.

“So to enter and arrive there, and subsequently achieve that, and subsequently award the club the Champions League once more, which is an incredible accomplishment, and then to continue to develop and progress in the upcoming season.”

In the summer of 2023, Celtic fans were devastated by the departure of Postecoglou from Paradise for Tottenham, as they bid farewell to “Angeball.”

He achieved five significant accolades during his tenure as Celtic manager, which culminated in the Treble.
