West Ham tried to get Kevin De Bruyne.
In April, it was said that Aston Villa had talks about getting De Bruyne this summer, but the Birmingham club didn’t actually do anything to get the Belgian.

TalkSPORT now says that Villa weren’t the only Premier League club interested in the Man City star. West Ham also tried to keep the 33-year-old in England before he chose to join Napoli.

There is a story that the Hammers made an ambitious move for De Bruyne. The London club talked to the Man City captain to see if he would be interested in joining the Irons.

But it looks like the player wasn’t interested enough in the West Ham project to stay in the Premier League. The Belgian superstar might have liked the move, though.

How Kevin De Bruyne would have fit in at West Ham
If De Bruyne had moved to West Ham, he would have joined a Premier League team that wants to be near the top of the table and lived in London.

But the player seemed to want to join a team that was already going to win, and Napoli fits that bill. They also give the captain of Man City the chance to play in the Champions League again.

West Ham manager Graham Potter wants his team to have a lot of the ball, so De Bruyne would have been a good fit there. The Belgian could have played as a number 10 for the Hammers.

Potter has been playing with two up front lately, and the 33-year-old would have done well passing the ball to Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus.

Still, it didn’t work out that way. We’ll have to wait and see how De Bruyne helps Napoli as the Italian winners try to build on their Serie A title.
