Frank Ragnow, a center for the Detroit Lions who is 29 years old, has said that he is leaving the NFL. In an emotional Instagram post on Monday, June 2, the four-time Pro Bowl pick talked about it. He was a big part of coach Dan Campbell’s comeback with the Lions.
“The last few months have been very hard for me because I’ve realized that my football career is over and I’m leaving the NFL for good.” Ragnow wrote on Instagram, “I’ve tried to convince myself that I’m feeling good, but I’m not. It’s time to put my health and my family’s future first.”
He also said, “I’ve given this team everything I have, and I thought I had more to give, but the truth is I don’t.” One of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do was decide to listen to my body. During this whole process, the Lions staff has been absolutely amazing, and I can’t say enough good things about this team and all the fans. Going to fight for you all was an honor indeed.
