Tesla CEO Elon Musk criticised Trump’s funding bill with a harsh statement

Even though Elon Musk had already spoken out against the megabill that supports President Trump’s legislative plan a few days before, he did it again on Tuesday, calling it a “disgusting abomination” in a post on X.

“Excuse me, but I can’t take it any longer. “This huge, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination,” Musk wrote about the bill that the House passed. “Those who voted for it should feel bad about what they did. “You already know it.”

Musk then wrote a bunch of posts in response. One said that the bill “will massively increase the already huge budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt,” and another said that “Congress is making America bankrupt.”

The “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” bill continues Trump’s tax cuts from 2017 and increases spending on the military and border security. However, it cuts some aid programs, like Medicaid and SNAP. The neutral Congressional Budget Office says it will also add about $3.8 trillion to the $36.2 trillion in debt that the federal government already has.

The bill is being negotiated in the Senate, and the president is on the phone and in meetings with senators to try to get Congress to pass his broad plan.

“That is a dangerous thing for Elon or anyone who has who cares about the U.S. economy to be meddling with,” said he. “And I believe the danger is very high.” We need to get this law passed.”

Musk’s criticism was also ignored by Senate Majority Leader John Thune, who pointed out that different economic models and the bill’s prospects for growth and deficit reduction were to blame.

“It’s clear that we value everything Elon did with DOGE. During his weekly press conference on Capitol Hill, Thune told reporters, “We have different ideas on this issue.”

Thune said that he thinks Musk is using old information from the CBO.

Democrats used Musk’s words to say why they didn’t agree with Republicans and the bill.

Chuck Schumer, the majority leader in the Senate, showed a copy of the posts to the press and said that he agreed with the millionaire.

“Trump’s buddy says the bill is bad — you can imagine how bad this bill is,” Schumer said.

At a different news conference, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, who is Schumer’s counterpart in the House, said the same thing: “breaking news: Elon Musk and I agree with each other.” Jeffrisk also said that he and Schumer will work to get the bill killed.

When asked about what Musk said on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt played down his criticism.

Leavitt told the press at the White House, “Look, the president already knows where Elon Musk stands on this bill.” “The president still thinks the same way.” He’s going to stick to this big, beautiful bill.”

Musk had earlier said that he didn’t like the bill and was “disappointed” with it in an interview with CBS News.

“I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing,” Musk told CBS News in a chat.
