Gregory Coupet, a former France international, has provided Daizen Maeda with an ideal justification for declining an offer from Fenerbahce and remaining at Celtic.
Maeda has been associated with Fenerbahce, and it appears that the Turkish titans are prepared to challenge the Hoops’ resolve this summer.
The striker has already hinted that his tenure at Parkhead is coming to an end, following Maeda’s refusal to rule out a Celtic departure this summer.
Given that the summer transfer window is now open and temptation is present, Coupet’s admission may provide Celtic’s player of the season with fuel for thought.
Gregory Coupet considers the ambiance at Celtic Park to be superior to that of Fenerbahce.
In an interview with L’Equipe, the former Lyon goalkeeper acknowledged that Celtic Park is the most exceptional venue at which he has ever played, surpassing Fenerbahce, which he ranked as his second-best venue.
Coupet stated, “I prioritize Celtic music due to its cathedral-like quality, magnificent chants, and absence of animosity.” It is enchanting.
“I ranked Fenerbahce second because, at the time, the kop was situated across the entire width, not behind the goals. I am uncertain if this is still the case.” Additionally, they possessed substantial drums and performed rituals that were reminiscent of war, which was truly extraordinary.
The goalkeeper is not the only prominent figure to express his admiration for Glasgow; Adrien Rabiot and Luis Enrique, who have both won the Champions League twice, have also praised the Parkhead ambiance.
What is the highest fee that Celtic has ever received for a player?
If the Hoops do decide to separate ways with Maeda this summer, there is a high probability that they could generate substantial revenue by selling the 33-goal striker.
The current record transaction for Celtic is Matt O’Riley’s transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion, which resulted in a payment of £26 million. There is a possibility that this figure could increase to £30 million.
The preponderance of players have left for a range of £10-£15m, while Kieran Tierney and Jota also left for £25m.
