Arsenal
They disrespected me,They wanted to get ride of me before Arteta came’: former Arsenal Star Granit Xhaka reveals the only issue He had with Arsenal board before He parted ways with them last summer.
Arsenal treated Granit Xhaka with “little respect” and attempted to eliminate him prior to the signing of Mikel Arteta, according to Xhaka. The Swiss international endured a turbulent tenure at the Emirates. He moved from being the club’s number one enemy to having his name sung weekly by fans prior to his departure in the summer. He has now disclosed the events that transpired prior to Arteta’s appointment as Arsenal manager.
Granit Xhaka claims Arsenal treated him disrespectfully prior to the signing of Mikel Arteta.
In the summer, Granit Xhaka departed Arsenal for Bayer Leverkusen for a transfer fee of £21.4 million (BBC).
Last season, the Swiss international was among Arsenal’s most valuable players. His performance as the number eight at the Emirates made him a public favorite. Not always was the situation that way for Xhaka. In 2019, subsequent to his outburst against Crystal Palace, he was deposed from his captaincy. Half of his supporters abandoned him and demanded his departure.
It is common knowledge that Xhaka’s turnaround occurred when Arsenal desired to get clear of him; however, the Swiss international has now shockingly disclosed that the club paid him “little respect” during that time.
However, everything altered in December 2019 with the arrival of Mikel Arteta.
Xhaka stated to The Athletic, “Despite being the club captain, I was treated with little regard. All but one individual, Mikel Arteta, gave the impression that they desired to eliminate me without delay.
“Ahead of our first encounter, I had already packed my bags and prepared to board a plane.” I had already departed the club with all my heart and spirit. I conveyed to him, “Departure is the solution.” Mikel expressed his desire for me to remain. However, I was unsure.
“I recall having a conversation with my father at the time.” He advised, “Let’s depart.” It was the first time in his life that he instructed me to flee. He stated that my future at Arsenal was non-existent. It would be inconceivable for me to once again play for Arsenal. “All I want is to be in an environment where the fans do not boo me,” I told him.
“However, he was extremely compelling. It was the first time in my life that I made a decision without consulting my family beforehand. I stood and responded, “Okay, I’ll stay.” Following our embrace, I promptly resumed my training regimen as if nothing had transpired.
The narrative of Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka is motivational.
Following the events of the 2019 match against Crystal Palace, it would have been laughable to inform an Arsenal supporter that Granit Xhaka would remain with the club until 2023, while fans continued to chant his name.
The Swiss international, however, did precisely that.
By instilling in him the confidence, trust, and belief that enabled him to perform at his peak, Mikel Arteta bestowed upon Xhaka the status of a hero in the club. Upon his departure, he was greeted with acclaim.
Xhaka continues to be a source of inspiration for Arsenal supporters worldwide, who continue to wish him well.
