An ex-Celtic midfielder who appeared in only 17 matches over a four-year period has announced his retirement. Scott Allan has submitted an emotive message that serves as confirmation of his retirement.
Allan’s most recent stint was with Kelty Hearts in Scottish League One, where he contributed to their sixth-place finish by making 22 appearances and scoring two goals. The 33-year-old, who was also a coach at the club, intends to pursue additional media opportunities and continue instructing after his retirement.
Allan was a Celtic player from 2015 to 2019, but he only appeared in 17 matches for the Parkhead club, all of which were under the leadership of Ronny Deila. He composed: “As I depart from the game I adore, I would like to pause and contemplate my journey.” I have always aspired to perform in front of a complete stadium, wearing my name on the back of my shirt, since I was a child. ”
The sensation, the adrenaline, the connection with fans—it is unparalleled.” My family is the source of my profound gratitude. Your unwavering support has been my anchor during my illness with diabetes.”You consistently accompanied me to training sessions, which were instrumental in cultivating my perseverance and enthusiasm both on and off the field.” I am grateful to my colleagues, coaches, and fans for helping me realize my aspiration.
This is not merely the conclusion; it is a chapter that is replete with cherished recollections. I am enthusiastic about the prospect of exploring new opportunities in the fields of media and coaching. This subsequent chapter will enable me to continue my enthusiasm for the game, motivate others, and share my experiences. I am grateful. Celtic was a disappointment during Allan’s tenure.
The 2014/15 season saw Allan excel for Hibs, which drew the attention of both Rangers and Celtic. The midfielder, who was a lifelong Rangers devotee, was a childhood fan of the club. He was frequently associated with a transfer to Ibrox; however, the transaction never transpired, and he ultimately agreed to a four-year contract with the Hoops.
All of Allan’s 17 appearances for the club were played during the 2015/16 season, which was Deila’s final season as manager. Allan’s sole victory during his tenure at Parkhead was Celtic’s victory in the Scottish Premiership that year. Before permanently departing Celtic in 2019, he was loaned to Rotherham United, Dundee, and Hibs.
