United has been conducting scouting operations in Norway in search of one of their most promising youth players.
Manchester United is currently engaged in the pursuance of Bryan Mbeumo and the search for a new forward, which are the primary focus of their transfer agenda. However, they are also attempting to conduct some strategic transactions under the radar.
In a concerted effort to identify some of the most promising new players in the world of football, Ineos has signed them at an early stage for a low fee. The concept is that they will either become first-team regulars at United or be able to resell those players at a profit in the future.
Diego Leon, a Paraguayan left-back, and Enzo Kaya-Biyik, a French forward, are both examples of players who suit this description. It is possible that another similar signing is in the works.
On Sunday, in the Norwegian Eliteserien, United dispatched observers to observe Norwegian centre-half Eivind Helland play in SK Brann’s 3-1 victory over Viking. Helland demonstrated exceptional performance in the victory, and at the age of 20, he has already acquired a wealth of senior-level experience.
Certainly, Freyr Alexandersson, the manager of Brann, is an avid supporter of the Norway under-21 international. The Icelandic manager, who has worked at clubs in his homeland, Qatar, Denmark, and Belgium, referred to Helland as the “greatest talent” he has encountered.
He also believes that he possesses the potential to transition from a center-half position to a central midfield position and has brazenly asserted that he possesses comparable qualities to Rodri, the Ballon d’Or winner of Manchester City.
“He is a contemporary center-back.” However, he remains inexperienced. “And he will make mistakes,” Alexandersson informed Netavisen.
“We should simply accept that.” However, endeavor to safeguard him and equip him with the necessary tools to ensure his success. He possesses technical abilities due to his speed.
“He is large and robust, and he is adept at moving quickly.” He is diligent and modest. Therefore, I anticipate that he will have a significant career.
“I believe that he is the most exceptional talent I have ever possessed.” That is my sentiment, without intending to exert undue pressure on him. I will provide him with the necessary protection, but I believe he is aware of his immense aptitude.
“Centre-back is his best position, but for a dominant team like Brann will be, he can develop into a really good six. Without wanting to make headlines about it, he reminds me a bit of Rodri.
“If you see how Rodri developed as a ‘six’, Eivind Helland has many of the same qualities. It may be that at some point I will give him a few games as a six.”
A deal for Helland shouldn’t be too expensive to make and the upside is massive. If he lives up to his billing from his manager, it could be one of United’s smartest ever investments.
It is certainly a situation to watch this summer.
