All three points from Aberdeen will make Brendan Rodgers very happy as he leads Celtic back to Glasgow in the Scottish Premiership.
If Celtic beat Aberdeen 2-0 at Pittodrie, Aberdeen would be at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership table.
Rangers lost to Dundee and now there is a four-point gap between Celtic and the Ibrox club. With just one game left until the big Glasgow Derby, Rodgers has already given his biggest rivals some breathing room.
Rodgers was thrilled after the game when he talked about the player that made the Pittodrie fans boo. Celtic will leave Aberdeen with a big Scottish Premiership win.
Brendan Rodgers says that Celtic’s big win over Aberdeen showed “heart.”
When the Celtic manager talked about how proud he was of his team’s heart and spirit, it was clear that they were thrilled.
Rodgers told BBC Radio Scotland, “I’m really happy.” We had a lot of power over it. We had a lot of great moments in the game, got two great goals, and had a few other chances to score.
“The goalie makes a great save, and then we had to defend, which you have to do because you can’t win every game.”
“But when we had to defend, we did so very well and strongly.” Oh, I’m so happy for the players! The last season would have been bad for them because they had such a great season before.
“But today we’re here.” And we get the win because we play well and with heart.
In praise of Celtic’s new boy, Brendan Rodgers Ben Nygren vs. Aberdeen
Ben Nygren scored Celtic’s first goal, and Rodgers was thrilled with his new summer signing.
Rodgers said, “Yeah, that’s great.” I am so happy for Benji. That’s why we hired him. He’s a player, you know.
“If you look at his record, he scores goals from the middle of the pitch or out wide, but we see him more as an ear who can move well, take the ball in tight spaces and get into the box.”
“It was great that he scored that goal.” We did a great job of handling the pressure for the second goal as well. Then Reo has done that a few times up here and gotten great results.
Next up for Celtic in the league is a big match at Ibrox against Rangers.
With four points between them and Rangers, Brendan Rodgers knows he has some room to move when he plays them at Ibrox.
Yes, Celtic’s manager will want to win that game, but they still have one more league game to play before the big Rangers game.
