Celtic F.C. coach Brendan Rodgers reacts and responds back to Celtic fan theory over not wearing a tie for match win (0-2) against Aberdeen

Brendan Rodgers was completely taken aback during his press conference on Thursday.

The Celtic manager addressed reporters prior to his team’s match against Falkirk in the second round of the Premier Sports Cup on Friday evening at Parkhead.

Journalists naturally inquired about his views on the Champions League play-off, transfers, and Daizen Maeda’s contract negotiations.

However, he was unprepared for the absurd query posed by a reporter regarding a peculiar conspiracy theory.

According to reports, a Celtic fan recently called into the radio program of Clyde 1 Superscoreboard and asserted that Rodgers was conveying a message regarding something by not wearing a tie during the Aberdeen game on Sunday.

Rodgers was perplexed by the notion that he was required to defend his attire at Pittodrie when a journalist curiously presented it to him.

The journalist stated, “Brendan, this is the stupid question of the day.” There was a bit of a commotion on Gordon Duncan’s program, as a number of individuals had called in to express their concern that you did not wear a tie at Pittodrie on Sunday. Was there any other reason than your decision not to wear a tie?

Rodgers: “I am aware.” It is inconceivable. This has been disclosed to me by an individual. I am purportedly transmitting a message. It is inconceivable.

“I am essentially the same as everyone else.” Observe that when the temperature is exceedingly high, you are required to remove either your overcoat or your tie. And when the temperature is particularly frigid, you don a sweater.

“I recall that I wore a sweater last year.” Individuals assert that “He is conveying a message.” What is the message? It was extremely cold. I was standing with a large coat and a cardigan on, and it was up to that point. I am unharmed.

“And last week, I came to the realization that there are two grounds in my career that are absolutely boiling, correct?” If you receive it at the appropriate time and the sun is shining on your dugout, take it to Pittodrie and Preston.

“I previously visited the location and was completely scorched on the day of my visit. Pittodrie is no different, as the sun descends and hits you.” Therefore, I concluded, “I must either remove my jacket or my tie.” Consequently, I removed my tie. The message conveyed is unclear to me. I am simply feeling comfortable.

“This is contemporary football, is it not?” Consequently, I apologize for squandering the time and energy of others by being incorrect; however, I was feeling a bit overheated, which is why I was unable to wear a tie.

Rodgers concludes with a jab at journalists.
A different journalist acknowledged that it was a “daft question” to pose after the individual explained his decision not to wear a tie against Aberdeen.

Rodgers then delivered a playful dig at the reporters, stating, “I tell you what is really good here, how you’re actually claiming they are daft, but when I get them every week and you don’t say they are daft!”

Celtic will now prepare for Falkirk in the hopes of advancing to the quarter-final stage of the Premier Sports Cup.

Of course, Celtic defeated the Bairns in the competition last year on their way to securing the trophy at Hampden Park against Rangers.
