Do we need a new striker? Football pundit James McFadden shares his honest opinion on the 24-year-old Celtic F.C. player Adam Idah position at Celtic Park

Celtic supporters continue to believe that they require a new striker.

Shin Yamada’s transfer from Kawasaki Frontale further strengthened the attacking department, while Fulham signed Callum Osmand on a development fee earlier in the summer.

Nevertheless, Brendan Rodgers has elected to reintegrate Daizen Maeda into the flank position and utilize Adam Idah as the central striker for the first two matches of the upcoming Scottish Premiership season.

It is fair to assume that supporters are not particularly enthusiastic about this at this time. On Friday night, Idah was substituted for Johnny Kenny in the match against Falkirk, as he has yet to score.

Therefore, will Idah serve as Celtic’s primary number nine this season?

McFadden renders an unvarnished assessment of Idah
According to Scotland legend and Open Goal pundit James McFadden, Celtic must acquire a superior striker in order to contend with Idah.

Gordon Dalziel, a fellow pundit, however, believes that Celtic already possess the solution in Maeda and believes that the Japanese player is more effective as a central striker than on the periphery.

Si Ferry: “Do you anticipate Idah being the ninth player of the season?”

McFadden: “No.” I merely believe that they require an individual to enter the scene, as I believe that they are superior to him in terms of their ability to challenge him and advance him. I am of the opinion that it is not feasible to commence the season with Idah as the primary striker.

Dalziel: “I believe they have it.” “I believe they have it in the building.” I believe that Maeda is more effective as a centre forward than as a winger. I believe that he instills a sense of dread in goalkeepers and center halves.

The performance of Idah against Aberdeen was subpar.
Rodgers had the opportunity to start Idah against Falkirk on Friday night, providing him with the possibility to score a few goals against a weaker opponent.

However, the Northern Irishman refrained from doing so and substituted Kenny for the striker, as the manager rotated his team for the Premier Sports Cup match.

Nevertheless, Aberdeen’s performance against Idah was subpar, and therefore, the decision is justified in that respect. Before being substituted for Shin Yamada in the second half, he only touched the ball 20 times.

In the contest, he also lost possession a staggering 10 times, despite only managing to score one off-target shot.
