Allan Saint-Maximin, a beloved Newcastle United player, has secured his third club since departing Tyneside two years ago.
In July 2023, Saint-Maximin relocated from Newcastle to Saudi Arabia to join Al-Ahli for a sum of £21 million. To date, it is the sole transaction in which The Magpies have engaged with a Saudi Pro League club that is owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund.
Newcastle had just finished fourth in the Premier League and qualified for the Champions League for the first time in over two decades when the transfer occurred.
Saint-Maximin’s inaugural season in the Saudi Pro League was a source of frustration; however, he managed to accumulate four goals and ten assists for Al-Ahli prior to his departure to Fenerbahce on loan last summer.
The French winger’s tenure in Turkey was also not as successful as anticipated. He was involved in a public altercation with Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho before returning to Al-Ahli at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season, with his future uncertain.
The 28-year-old has recently relocated to a location that is nearly 8,500 miles from Al-Ahli.
The new club of Allan Saint-Maximin has been disclosed.
Saint-Maximin was officially announced as a permanent addition to Club America, a Mexican club, earlier this month. According to sources in Mexico, the winger has settled in Mexico for approximately £9 million ($12 million) and has signed a two-year contract with an option for an additional year.
Saint-Maximin did not participate in Club America’s 3-1 victory over Tigres UANL over the weekend, despite training with his new colleagues throughout the week. It is anticipated that he will be involved in a match against Atlas next week.
Allan Saint-Maximin sends a poignant farewell missive
Saint-Maximin is recognized for his lengthy and passionate social media posts, which were particularly well-received by Newcastle supporters during his tenure on Tyneside.
The French winger expressed his gratitude for a “great opportunity” in a statement that verified his departure from Al-Ahli.
Saint-Maximin expressed her intention to bid farewell on Instagram, stating, “I had to pause to determine which opportunity was truly the right one, but I made my decision.”
Although Saint-Maximin’s career has led him down an intriguing path since departing Newcastle, he harbors no remorse for his decision to leave the club, as it was mutually beneficial at the time.
“I departed the club at the pinnacle; I did not depart in a manner that resembled theft,” Saint-Maximin stated on the YouTube channel Zach. “I did not abandon them when they were at the bottom.”
“I had the opportunity to depart for larger clubs when they were performing poorly.” At that moment, I received numerous offers; however, I was unwilling to forsake them.
“I should have made these decisions for my career and personal growth; however, I persevered until the conclusion.” I maintained my loyalty, despite the fact that I refrained from examining the substantial financial rewards associated with contracts that were significantly more intriguing than the one I held in Newcastle.
“I prioritize loyalty.” During my year in Newcastle, I was able to contribute to three goals in one of my favorite matches against Manchester City. This was evident to all who witnessed it.
“When you perform at that level, when you play against City, Arsenal, Liverpool, or Manchester, and when you score against them, it is not overlooked.” Newcastle was aware that I was irreplaceable, as you receive offers.
“This sensation of being indispensable, of being a significant contributor, to the extent that you are unwilling to be sold or to relinquish your identity, was an extraordinary experience.”
“Ultimately, I resolved to remain loyal, and it was of paramount importance to me that I exited through the front door on the day I made the decision to depart.” That is precisely what I did. When we concluded the fourth term, I departed.
“The injuries I sustained during that season made the season more complex.” My absences were somewhat costly, and the team performed admirably without me.
“I was also the starter of the first final in years during the cup final.” Manchester United prevailed over Liverpool in the final. I was exceedingly pleased. It was as though I had emerged victorious.
“It was extraordinary, because you are aware of the feeling of disappointment that you experience when you are present and witness the disappointment of your teammates and supporters. The fact that they are able to endure this is truly remarkable.”
“That is why, to return to the matter, when the proposal was made to assist the club, it is something that is impossible to overlook.”
