Breaking news: UEFA came into the scene an rolled out rules to block Newcastle United deadline day striker transfer after £39m done deal completed

On deadline day, Newcastle United sought to negotiate a permanent transfer for striker William Osula.
Newcastle were on the brink of losing another striker, despite having reached an agreement with Liverpool for Alexander Isak, which set a Premier League record at £130 million.

After reaching an agreement with Brentford to recruit Yoane Wissa for £55 million, the club had authorized William Osula’s departure.

In an effort to secure a deadline-day move, Osula, who is currently on international duty with Denmark, withdrew from media responsibilities; however, the move ultimately did not materialize.

Following the international break, the 22-year-old will return to Newcastle and will continue to be a member of Eddie Howe’s squad. After joining the club for £10 million from Sheffield United, the striker made his first Premier League start for the club over a year ago.

However, Newcastle has retained the striker as a backup to the summer acquisitions of Nick Woltemade, Wissa, and Anthony Gordon, as the agreement to acquire him did not become a reality.

Newcastle had reached an agreement with Aston Villa, a Premier League team, to acquire Osula earlier in the day. However, the transfer was impeded by UEFA’s financial regulations.

The transfer of Newcastle United’s striker is prohibited by UEFA regulations as a result of the £39 million transaction.
Newcastle had previously conducted business with Aston Villa during the transfer window by agreeing to a £39 million agreement to acquire Jacob Ramsey. The Villa academy graduate relocated to Tyneside and secured a pure-profit agreement with his hometown club in order to circumvent the financial regulations of the Premier League and UEFA.

Despite the fact that Newcastle would have benefited financially and had no issues with PSR if they had agreed to proceed with a deal for Osula with Villa, the transfer was ultimately halted by UEFA’s more stringent financial regulations.

The UEFA would have regarded Villa’s agreement to transfer Ramsey to Newcastle and subsequently purchase Osula for a substantial sum as a swap deal. The sheer profit they had generated through the sale of Ramsey would have been restricted.

Villa is adhering to the regulations in a strict manner following the imposition of a sanction by UEFA.

David Ornstein provided an explanation for the deal’s failure to progress on The Athletic’s YouTube channel.

He stated, “Aston Villa were unable to proceed with a deal for William Osula because it would have been classified as a “swap” under UEFA’s accounting methods following Ramsey’s transfer to Newcastle.”

“UEFA would have perceived it as a compromise, rather than as separate agreements.” Villa’s profit from that transaction would have been reduced.

Eddie Howe had alluded to the possibility of Osula’s departure last week, suggesting that the striker would require consistent playing time at this juncture in his career.

“I believe that Will is capable of achieving anything,” Howe stated. “I would prefer not to impose any limitations on his perception.”

“We will evaluate him on a daily basis, as we do.” In a single year, he has made significant progress.

“Occasionally, as you observe an individual on a daily basis and become so invested in their growth, you may overlook the significant stride they have taken.” I believe that his game is in a significantly improved state.

“I anticipate that there is additional development to be expected, given that I am so young.” However, he possesses the aptitude and talent to score goals, and he does so.

“He is both strong and quick, and he has consistently scored goals in training.” There will be a time when he must perform regularly in order to advance to the next level, and he is likely in that moment at this time. He possesses all the necessary attributes.

However, it is evident that Osula will not be able to feature on a consistent basis at Newcastle this season, and Howe has not ruled out the possibility of a departure.
