On Saturday, Celtic will be represented by Tom Rogic for the first time since 2022.
The Foundation Legends Charity Match at Celtic Park will feature The Wizard of Oz as the Hoops face Manchester United.
Rogic will be donning his footwear for the first time since his professional retirement in 2023, and all proceeds will be donated to the Celtic Foundation.
Celtic fans are thrilled to have the Invincible Treble legend return to Parkhead. Prior to the game, they were treated to a special podcast episode featuring the man himself.
Rogic contemplates Celtic’s Invincible Treble goal with humility.
Rogic participated in the Official Celtic FC Podcast, which afforded him the chance to contemplate one of Celtic’s most emblematic goals.
The 2017 Scottish Cup final was won by the Hoops, who went unbeaten for the entire domestic season and won all three trophies, thanks to Rogic’s decisive goal against Aberdeen.
Nevertheless, he is a modest individual who is hesitant to claim an excessive amount of credit for the remarkable accomplishment. Rogic maintains that although he is extremely fortunate to have scored that particular goal, the team as a whole was the primary focus.
Rogic stated, “Yes, I was a member of a highly successful team that was led by a few different managers.” You experience a sense of unrelentingness while playing.
“You are attending each week, and I have likely had a bit more time to reflect and look back than the players who are obviously playing now.”
“It is quite extraordinary to be aware that events such as this will be cherished in the future.” Football is a game of moments, and I am fortunate to have experienced some that will be relived for years to come, as well as other similar experiences.
“Consequently, it is quite impressive.” I believe that as a participant, you tend to view it as a collective endeavour. I was a member of a highly successful team that was comprised of numerous exceptional players and administrators.
“I suppose it was me at the time (scoring against Aberdeen), but it could have been anyone else.”
“Consequently, you do not approach it with an overly individualistic perspective.” It is more about the team and collective, and we were undoubtedly in a successful period where we were able to win a lot of trophies, which is something that I guess shouldn’t be taken lightly.
“I am exceedingly fortunate to have accomplished that in my professional life.”
Rogic’s extraordinary tenure at Celtic
Rogic has achieved 16 significant accolades with the Hoops over the course of a decade, placing him among the top 20 most decorated Celtic players of all time.
He was signed by Neil Lennon’s administration, and his Parkhead career began to flourish under Ronny Deila in 2015, following a slow start.
Undoubtedly, the 2016/17 Invincible Treble campaign was Rogic’s finest individual season, as he scored 12 goals in 37 appearances for the Bhoys.
He remained in Glasgow until the Ange Postecoglou era, and he participated in 50 games across all competitions during his final year.
In total, Rogic appeared in 273 games for Celtic and scored 46 goals, some of which will remain etched in the minds of Hoops fans for an extended period.
