People are still talking about the first Glasgow Derby between Celtic and Rangers.
It’s pretty strange, since most people thought Celtic’s draw at Ibrox was one of the worst derbies in recent memory.
Rangers’ defence has been giving up goals like crazy this season, and Celtic played badly and had a hard time breaking through it.
But there were two questionable calls during the game, and the SFA KMI Panel has now given their opinions on them. This should put an end to Rangers fans’ claims that they were unfairly denied a win against Celtic.
The penalty call for Rangers vs. Celtic
The first thing the KMI panel did was decide not to give Rangers a penalty for Liam Scales’s hit on Bojan Miovksi.
Mark Clattenburg told 67 Hail Hail that the decision by VAR and ref Don Robertson not to give Celtic the penalty kick was the right one. But what did the KMI team think?
On the SFA website, the panel said, “The on-field decision was supported by all.” The KMI Panel also voted 3:0 in favour of the first ruling.
The panel also agreed that both the decision made on the pitch and the decision made by VAR were right.
What the SFA’s KMI team said about the goal that Rangers didn’t score against Celtic
The next choice the panel had to make was to not count Rangers’ goal because defender John Souttar was offside.
The panel said, “Everyone on the panel agreed that the on-field decision to be onside was wrong.” The panel said VAR did the right thing by stepping in and ruling the goal offside.
The vote was 3:0 in favour of VAR’s correct choice to overturn the decision.
As all Celtic fans already knew, the match referee and VAR did their jobs right and made sure the rules were followed properly in the draw for the Glasgow Derby.
