Brazilian footballer Neymar breaks silence and takes a strong side with the Celtic F.C. coach Brendan Rodgers on one of the issues they have detested the most for a very long time.

There is a problem in Scotland that Brendan Rodgers has talked about before that makes both Celtic fans and the Hoops manager mad.

Since Dunfermline Athletic brought them to the Scottish game in 2003, artificial turf fields have been a pet peeve for many Celtic fans.

Players like Kyogo Furuhashi and Cameron Carter-Vickers had to limit the amount of time they played on these surfaces because they often caused Celtic stars to get hurt.

Now, Neymar, the star player for Brazil’s national team, has spoken out strongly against the use of fake turf in the country’s top league.

Neymar’s view on manmade fields is similar to Celtic’s and the fans’.

Some Celtic fans love Neymar and some hate him because of what he did when he played against the Bhoys in the Champions League with Barcelona and PSG.

Now that he plays for Santos, the Brazilian great has said something about fake fields that even Celtic fans will agree with.

A Tribuna reported what Neymar said in August, after Santos beat Juventude 3-1 on grass, as he thought about playing Palmeiras on their manmade turf.

The Brazilian said, “It’s almost impossible for me to play at Allianz (Parque).” One thing that bothers me as a player is having to play inside, even though I’m hurt.

“So it’s always better to play at MorumBis, which is a great pitch.”

From now on, the former Barcelona scorer won’t play on any fields that aren’t grass.

Brendan Rodgers has strong feelings about artificial pitches because they will no longer be used in the Scottish Premiership starting with the 2026–27 season.

As early as March 2024, the Celtic boss told them, “You have to think about it.” Such as, when we think about Callum McGregor, we need to go that way. Without a question, it crosses your mind, especially after an international break during which players have been travelling.

“We’re all looking forward to the day when we have good grass pitches here.” The fans will be able to see the best game possible.

“But we play on a plastic pitch right now, so we have to deal with that.” That means we have to think about picking the team and the player’s well-being. It seems like too much of a risk from Callum’s point of view.

As things stand, Celtic will have to play Falkirk, Kilmarnock, and Livingston on plastic fields. Fans of the Hoops want these grounds to be banned from the Scottish Premier League for good.
