According to journalist Paul Hirst, Bruno Fernandes started the fight with Foden after getting too excited with the Manchester City fans when the hosts won.
“I noticed that after the restart, Bruno Fernandes was giving him some lip,” Hirst said on The Times’ The Game podcast. “He scored the goal and went and celebrated in the corner.”
Paul Hirst said, “And Foden was just like shouting stuff back at him.” Foden then hit back at Fernandes.
“I wish I knew what they said to each other, but he doesn’t back down from a fight, Foden.”
Phil Foden has already told Bruno Fernandes how he really feels about him.
Since Fernandes is the captain of Manchester United, fans of Manchester City would have been thrilled to see Foden not give up on their fight.
The English player had every right to do the same thing, since all he had done was celebrate after scoring in the game.
But Foden said Fernandes is better than him because he picked Fernandes over himself when he was asked to pick the better player.
Players often get angry with each other on the field, but Fernandes said Manchester City played better than Manchester United after the game as well.
Following their short fight, Foden and Fernandes did not argue with each other again.
