Bruno Guimaraes, the captain of Newcastle United, has made a plea to Amanda Staveley, the erstwhile co-owner, on social media.
Bruno Guimaraes has encouraged Amanda Staveley, the former co-owner of Newcastle United, to return to the club just over a year after her departure.
Staveley was a member of the consortium led by the PIF that assumed control of Newcastle nearly four years ago. The Magpies have since qualified for the Champions League twice and ended a 70-year domestic trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup in March.
In the span of a few seasons, Staveley supervised Newcastle’s transition from relegation favourites to Champions League contenders.
However, Staveley and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, withdrew from the club at the conclusion of the 2023/24 campaign, and their minority ownership stake was acquired by RB Sports & Media and PIF.
Despite his lack of official involvement, Staveley has maintained a firm connection with the club. She was present at Wembley Stadium to witness The Magpies’ Carabao Cup victory over Liverpool in March and has maintained her positive sentiments towards the club in interviews over the past year.
Staveley was also associated with the acquisition of Tottenham Hotspur, Newcastle’s Premier League rivals. PCP International, headquartered in Staveley, issued a brief statement earlier this month that confirmed its interest in Spurs. However, it also stated that it does not intend to pursue a takeover.
Newcastle United continues to hold Amanda Staveley in high regard.
Staveley was recently featured on the High Performance Podcast, where she was read a letter from a Newcastle supporter expressing appreciation for her contributions to the club.
It stated, “We are appreciative of the investment, the advancements made on the pitch, and the opportunity to witness our club once more.” However, a football organisation is not merely a business.
“It is a family; it is a community.” Families flourish on warmth, communication, and comprehension. Newcastle United is at risk of losing a critical connection to its soul if Mandy does not take the initiative in this regard.
“The black-and-white army that is loyal and passionate.” For the club to reclaim its voice, re-establish a connection with its supporters, and reignite the much-needed humanity that Amanda Staveley so eloquently embodied.
Staveley responded with an emotional tone, stating, “That [letter] is really hard to hear because it is so lovely.”
“That is the reason I travelled to Newcastle; the fans are truly remarkable.” They truly are, which is why leaving was the most difficult decision I have ever made and required a significant amount of time to comprehend.
“You are required to act in the best interest of the club.” Newcastle and the Reubens will benefit greatly from the partnership with PIF.
“Therefore, it is in the capable hands of others.” There are an abundance of individuals with benevolent intentions who dedicate themselves to the institution, the community, and all that it encompasses.
“I took it as a privilege.” I would arrive at work each day with the sentiment, “I am so fortunate to be able to do this job.”
Messages from Bruno Guimaraes In January 2022, Amanda Staveley assisted Newcastle in the re-signing of Bruno Guimaraes. The Brazilian has lead Newcastle to another Champions League qualification and cup success over the course of three and a half years.
Despite the fact that Newcastle’s greatest success occurred subsequent to Staveley’s departure, Guimaraes continued to publicly call for her return to St James’ Park.
Staveley played a critical role in the Newcastle Women’s team’s transformation, officially reintegrating them into the club, securing numerous record-breaking matches at St James’ Park, and advancing the team to a full-time status, where it currently competes in the second tier of women’s football in England.
However, Guimaraes responded with a message that read, “Queen, return.”
Our ears are open, Bruno!
