Injury update: 24-year-old football safety Kerby Joseph features for Detroit Lions vs. Cleveland Browns

Detroit — Lions safety Kerby Joseph shook off a knee injury to return to action in Sunday’s matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

The third-year defensive back went down awkwardly while blocking for teammate D.J. Reed on an interception late in the second quarter. With just under five minutes left in the half, Joseph was listed as questionable to return after being evaluated for a knee issue.

He spent the early stages of the second half running and cutting on the sideline under the supervision of trainers before re-entering the game at the 10:16 mark of the third quarter.

Joseph had already made a big impact earlier in the game, recording his second interception of the season after capitalizing on a miscommunication between Joe Flacco and his receivers. The veteran quarterback lofted a deep ball with no Browns target in sight, allowing Joseph to easily collect the turnover along the sideline.

Lions safeties coach Jim O’Neil praised Joseph’s resilience last week, noting he has been managing a lingering knee issue. *“He’s fighting through some stuff, and I give him a lot of credit,”* O’Neil said. *“It’s more about him warming up the right way, and once he does, he’s fine. We’re being smart with him, but he’s handled it like a pro.”*
