Celtic 3 – 2 Motherwell: Match reports, stats, highlights and performances

Celtic claimed a dramatic 3-2 win over Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership, thanks to Daizen Maeda’s stoppage-time strike.

The Japanese forward headed home in the 92nd minute from Michel-Ange Balikwisha’s low cross, sealing a hard-fought comeback and keeping Celtic within two points of league leaders Hearts.

The hosts had earlier gone in front through Kelechi Iheanacho’s penalty after Callum McGregor’s shot struck Regan Charles-Cook’s arm inside the box. Motherwell levelled five minutes before the break when Apostolos Stamatelopoulos headed in Tawanda Maswanhise’s cross.

Stamatelopoulos struck again shortly after the restart, converting from the spot following a VAR review that ruled Marcelo Saracchi had fouled Maswanhise. But substitute Benjamin Nygren came off the bench to pull Celtic level, before Maeda’s late header secured all three points for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
