Rangers F.C. Russell Martin replacement has been found as sack pressure worsen after the draw match against Falkirk

Rangers manager Russell Martin is reportedly on the verge of being dismissed following Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Falkirk, according to talkSPORT.

The Ibrox hierarchy are said to be preparing to make a decision on his future within days, with sources indicating that a managerial change during the upcoming international break is highly probable.

Rangers have endured a dismal start to the league season, managing just one win in their opening six matches — a 2-1 victory over Livingston on September 28. Their European campaign has also been disastrous, with the club crashing out of the Champions League qualifiers after a humiliating 9-1 aggregate defeat to Belgian side Club Brugge.

Things have gone from bad to worse in the Europa League, where the team has lost both of its opening group fixtures to Genk and Sturm Graz.

Martin has come under heavy fire from frustrated fans, with anti-manager banners spotted at recent games. Having been in the role for just 123 days, he could become the shortest-serving manager in Rangers’ history.

If Martin is dismissed, former boss Steven Gerrard is expected to be among the leading candidates to return, while Danny Röhl — also considered during the previous hiring process — is another name admired by senior club officials.

Martin’s brief and turbulent spell began in June, when he succeeded Philippe Clement as permanent manager of the Glasgow giants.
