Chris Sutton share his thought on who will win the title race between Celtic F.C., Rangers and Heart of Midlothian F.C.

Chris Sutton Warns Celtic Not to Dismiss Hearts as Title Rivals

Celtic could find themselves in a real title race this season as Hearts continue their strong start to the campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have struggled to rediscover the free-flowing, attacking form that carried them to success last term. Both in domestic competition and in Europe, Celtic have appeared short of their usual sharpness in front of goal. Still, they sit second in the Scottish Premiership table — while a managerless Rangers side languish in eighth place.

Following Hearts’ victory over Hibernian in the Edinburgh Derby, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton had a message for Hearts boss Derek McInnes, acknowledging the Tynecastle club’s growing momentum.

With Hearts currently two points clear of Celtic after seven games, Sutton insists it would be unwise to write them off as genuine contenders. The two sides are set to meet at Tynecastle on October 26 in what could prove an early test of both clubs’ credentials.

Hearts have already claimed a statement win at Ibrox earlier in the season, and Sutton didn’t hold back when assessing Rangers after that result.

At the time, he posted:

“Ironic — the striker Rangers should have signed a while back puts them to the sword. Well played, Hearts 👏👏.
Not dealing with Raskin properly proving costly for Russell Martin… Rangers 10th… That’s embarrassing.”

Looking ahead, Sutton hopes Celtic can respond when they travel to Tynecastle later this month and reclaim top spot in the table.

Speaking on BBC’s 606, he added:

“Fair play to Hearts, fair play to Tony Bloom, and to Derek McInnes — he’s a good manager and they’re doing really well.”
