After the match, Smith was questioned on BBC Sportsound about Kevin Muscat’s potential appointment. Reporter Kheredine Idessane asked:

“Is it your understanding from inside Rangers that Kevin Muscat will be the next manager and that a deal is still to be done?”

Smith replied:

“I can’t comment on any speculation. I don’t get involved in it. If I focus any attention on that, it takes my attention away from the team.”

When asked whether a permanent manager arriving soon would help, Smith said:

“It would always be the hope. But if it’s not tomorrow, if it’s not the following day, I’ll just carry on as I have done for the previous 10 days and keep things as normal as possible.”
