A new slow-motion replay has revealed the exact moment Tampa Bay Buccaneers star Mike Evans’ head struck the turf during the second quarter of Monday night’s clash against the Detroit Lions — and the footage looks worrying.
Evans, who had just returned from a three-game absence due to a hamstring injury, went down hard while attempting to haul in a deep pass from quarterback Baker Mayfield. The veteran wide receiver appeared to hit his head forcefully on the ground and was visibly shaken as medical staff rushed to his aid.
Trainers quickly attended to Evans, who seemed unable to lift his head or open his eyes following the impact. Moments later, he was carted off the field, looking distraught.
Before Monday night’s matchup, the future Hall of Famer had recorded 14 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown this season. Evans has impressively surpassed 1,000 receiving yards in each of his 11 NFL campaigns — a record unmatched in league history.
More updates on Evans’ condition are expected soon, and fans everywhere are hoping for a full and speedy recovery.
