Southampton coach Will Still delivers a sad and furious statement after Blackburn Rovers comeback

Will Still rues missed chances as late Blackburn comeback stuns Southampton

Southampton boss Will Still admitted his side only had themselves to blame after surrendering a lead in a late collapse against Blackburn Rovers.

The Saints looked set for victory at Ewood Park after taking a 1-0 lead, but two goals in the final 15 minutes handed Rovers a dramatic 2-1 win — prompting angry chants of “Sacked in the morning” and “You don’t know what you’re doing” from the travelling support.

Reflecting on the defeat, Still expressed frustration over his team’s inability to finish their chances, insisting the game should have been out of sight long before Blackburn’s late turnaround.

“Same story, different day,” Still said. “We go 1-0 up, should be two or three ahead — but don’t take our chances. Then we make mistakes and concede two really poor goals. It’s a repeat of what’s been happening recently.”

Adam Armstrong was the main culprit in front of goal, missing two clear opportunities that could have sealed the three points.

“If Adam scores one of those chances, we’re probably talking about a 3-0 win instead of a 2-1 loss,” Still added. “It’s the worst feeling in the world when you know how it played out.”

Despite growing pressure and chants calling for his dismissal, the Southampton manager vowed to take responsibility and urged unity within the club.

“It’s not an ideal situation, but it is what it is,” he said. “This club has been in a difficult place for a long time. The only way out is by sticking together. I understand the fans’ frustration — someone has to take the blame, and that’s me.”

The defeat extends Southampton’s winless run and piles further pressure on Still, who admitted the Saints must start converting their dominance into points if they are to turn their season around.
