Breaking news: Rangers F.C. key player have officially been suspended from Sports Cup semi-final against Celtic F.C.

Rangers will be without Connor Barron for their Premier Sports Cup semi-final clash against Celtic after the midfielder picked up a suspension.

The 21-year-old is ruled out of Sunday’s highly anticipated showdown at Hampden Park, having collected two yellow cards earlier in the competition.

Barron, who impressed in last weekend’s 1-0 win over Hibernian, will have to watch from the stands as his teammates battle their Glasgow rivals for a place in the final.

Breaking news: Rangers F.C. key player have officially been suspended from Sports Cup semi-final against Celtic F.C.

His first booking came in the 78th minute of the last-16 tie against Alloa Athletic back in August, and—by pure coincidence—he was cautioned again in the exact same minute during the next round’s victory over Hibs.

Under the Scottish FA’s Judicial Protocol for the 2025/26 season, players entering the tournament at the knockout stage receive a one-match ban after two yellow cards. That means Barron will serve his suspension this weekend.

The rules differ for clubs who start in the group phase, where a ban only follows three bookings, but all cautions are cleared ahead of the semi-finals.

With Barron sidelined, Rangers boss Danny Rohl faces a key midfield selection decision ahead of the clash with Martin O’Neill’s Celtic.
