A Celtic striker has been added to the club’s UEFA roster for the tie with FC Midtjylland, the club has confirmed

Celtic fans received a welcome boost this morning as the club confirmed that Hampden hero Callum Osmand has been added to their UEFA player list, replacing the injured Cameron Carter-Vickers ahead of tomorrow night’s clash with FC Midtjylland in Denmark.

Carter-Vickers recently underwent Achilles surgery after sustaining the injury during the previous Europa League fixture against SK Sturm Graz at Celtic Park, where Celtic won 2–1. The defender—nicknamed “Celtic’s Big Strong Man”—was spotted at Hampden on Sunday with his leg in plaster, cheering on Martin O’Neill’s side as they eliminated Rangers in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, Osmand, who scored his first professional goal in that Hampden victory, joined Johnny Kenny yesterday at the launch of Celtic’s new flagship store in Glasgow. Speaking to The Celtic Star’s Conor Spence, he hinted that he would be travelling to Denmark as a late squad addition—a move now officially confirmed by the club.

“We can confirm that striker Callum Osmand has replaced Cameron Carter-Vickers on our UEFA player list following Cameron’s unfortunate long-term injury,”
a Celtic statement read.

Assistant coach Shaun Maloney, in an interview with Celtic TV, explained that he personally recommended Osmand to interim boss Martin O’Neill, confident that his former manager would appreciate the young striker’s energy and style.

After celebrating the “best day of his life” on Sunday, Osmand now has the chance to make his European debuttomorrow night. It’s another step in what’s quickly becoming a dream rise for the young forward at Celtic.
